Russ named chairman of president’s advisors

BUIES CREEK – Former president of Campbell’s Alumni Association Board David Russ has been named the new chairman of the University’s Presidential Advisors.

Russ was introduced as chairman to the advisory board during a meeting on Oct. 28. A member of the John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center and Barker-Lane Football Stadium campaign cabinets, Russ said it’s an exciting time to be a part of Campbell University.

“Great things are happening here, and we’re a part of it,” he said. “We’re one of the smallest schools to have this many professional schools. We’re home to a nationally known law school, a pharmacy school, business school and a divinity school. Not many schools our size can lay claim to that.”

The advisory board is made up of Campbell alums and area business leaders who are tasked with communicating thoughts, ideas and concerns to the University president.

Russ, who owns Russ Vending and Coffee Company in Wilmington, was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2008. He is an active member of his church, Grace Methodist in Wilmington; and he and his wife Linda are the parents of two Campbell alums – Michael Russ (‘03 graduate of the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business) and D. Scott Russ (‘06 graduate of the Norman A. Wiggins School of Law.”Photo: David Russ (right) is pictured with Campbell President Jerry Wallace.
