BUIES CREEK — Campbell University today released a 24-page Presidential Search Prospectus that highlights the school’s programs, location and unprecedented growth and presents the attributes desired in the next president.
Campbell’s next president will be only the fifth in the University’s 127-year history. Current President Jerry Wallace announced he will step down on June 30, 2015, after 12 years as president and 45 total years where he also served as a professor, dean, and university provost.
The addition of the Search Prospectus comes after a 13-member Presidential Search Committee was formed in early August. The 13-person committee consists of university trustees, alumni, faculty, staff, and students. In late August, the committee conducted a campus listening tour to hear directly from faculty, staff and students about their hopes and aspirations for the future of Campbell, the priorities they hope the next president will pursue and the characteristics they’d like to see in him or her.
“The addition of this Search Prospectus helps to present Campbell University and the unique opportunity to become Campbell’s next president in a meaningful way,” said Benjamin N. Thompson (’76, ’79 JD), Chairman of the Presidential Search Committee. “This piece demonstrates the dynamic nature and advantages associated with Campbell’s history, academic programs, faculty, student body, alumni, athletics and geographic location, among other attributes.”
Campbell has retained the executive search firm of Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates to assist in the committee’s national search to identify a diverse field of promising candidates.

A new president is expected to be named by the spring of 2015 and begin his or her duties on July 1.
