Seniors exhibit at E.P. Sauls Gallery

Buies Creek–Campbell University seniors Courtney Dail, Emily Simpson and Randy Whitley display work in a variety of mediums as part of their Senior Exhibition at the E.P. Sauls Gallery of the Taylor Bott Rodgers Fine Arts Center. The exhibition will run through May 11.Dail, of Raleigh, N.C., transferred to Campbell University as a junior in the fall of 2006. Although she plans to pursue a career in law enforcement upon graduation, art has always been an important part of her life. Dail likes to experiment with line movement and photography, as well as hand-rendered type. Her work has been displayed at the North Carolina Museum of Art and at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.Simpson is a graphic design/studio art major from Rutherfordton, N.C. who likes “to paint anything God has made.” She enjoys working in acrylics and draws her inspiration from nature.Whitley, a studio art major from Durham, N.C., is influenced by surrealist painter Salvador Dali’s work. He is also partial to the cartoon illustrations of Stan Lee, former president of Marvel comics, and the internationally known British graffiti artist Banksy.The Senior Exhibition is for graduating majors in studio art. “The exhibition is representative of the work done in the students’ studio classes over their college careers,” said Larkin Tysor, associate professor of art. “From matting and displaying their works to sending out invitations, Senior Exhibition is solely the students’ undertaking.” Admission is free and open to the public.
