Fun, colorful letters converse about art, music and food in Campbell University alumnus Scott Shamblee’s winning logo for Raleigh’s First Friday event. The letters come together to spell the words “First Friday,” capturing the festive block party feeling of the event that features the city’s most original dining, shopping and entertainment experiences.”First Friday gives people an opportunity to get together and share ideas,” Shamblee said. “Art is never quiet; it always has something to say.”In developing the winning design, Shamblee said he aimed to create something both simple and playful.”The concept underlining the logo was to portray the purpose of First Friday,” he said.A graphic designer with Cranky Signs in Durham, N.C., Shamblee credits his talents and abilities to God first and Campbell University’s Fine Arts Department second.”I give a great deal of my success to my experiences within the Art Department at Campbell,” Shamblee said. “The professors were and still remain amazing teachers, mentors and friends.”Shamblee received $500 for his winning design.
