Buies Creek, N.C.-Dr. Daniel Shin, of the School of Pharmacy, is a recipient of Campbell University’s 2009 Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award. The awards were presented on Saturday, May 9, at a luncheon held in the Alumni Room of Marshbanks Dining Hall.
An associate professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Analytical Pharmacy, Shin is noted for making challenging course material such as Advanced Pharmaceutical Analysis palatable to students through his excellent communication skills and thorough knowledge of the subject matter, said Dr. Ronald Maddox, dean of the School of Pharmacy.
“Amazingly, he presents this challenging material with a passion to incorporate the Christian values for work ethic, honesty and integrity,” Maddox added.
A graduate of the University of Korea, Shin received a Master of Science degree from Western Illinois University and a Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. He is a faculty advisor to Campbell’s International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineering and was instrumental in forging the development of Campbell’s dual degree program with NC State which awards a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences. In addition, Shin played an important role in obtaining funding from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center to support student teaching and research experience for the Bachelor of Science and Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences programs.
