RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard announced today that Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP has agreed to financially sponsor a competitive mock trial team. The firm’s support will provide assistance for a group of students to compete at the National Student Trial Advocacy Competition (NSTAC) of the American Association for Justice (AAJ). Campbell Law will compete in the Raleigh region, March 20-23, with the national finals slated for April 10-13 in Santa Monica, Calif.
“We are thankful to Smith Moore Leatherwood for their support,” said Leonard. “This gift ensures that our students will experience a first-rate opportunity to carry on learning outside of the classroom while representing Campbell Law.”
The AAJ seeks to inspire excellence in trial advocacy through training and education for both law students and practicing attorneys. The association accomplishes this goal in part by sponsoring the NSTAC, an annual nationwide mock trial competition for all law schools across the country. The competition allows law students to develop and practice their trial advocacy skills before distinguished members of the bar and bench. The competition utilizes a civil case file involving current legal issues. This year’s case file involves competing claims over a medical injury.
