Buies Creek, N.C.-Dr. Mark Steckbeck of the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business, is the recipient of Campbell University’s 2009 Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award. The awards were presented on Saturday, May 9, at a luncheon held in the Alumni Room of Marshbanks Dining Hall.
An assistant professor of economics, Steckbeck has taught at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He is noted for encouraging students to examine the economic aspects of both private and public sectors.
“Campbell University and the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business take great pride in recognizing Dr. Mark Steckbeck for his excellence as a teacher,” said Dr. Ben Hawkins, dean of the School of Business. “His training in law, as well as economics, provides a solid background for excellent analysis of the importance of economic conditions in the business environment.”
Steckbeck earned a Bachelor of Arts from Appalachian State University and a Ph.D. from George Mason University. In addition to his work on trust and reciprocity, his interests lie in public choice economics, law and economics and institutional design. Prior to coming to Campbell, Steckbeck taught at Hillsdale College in Michigan.
