RALEIGH, N.C. –The 2012-13 Campbell Law School Student Leadership Council (SLC) spent the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 15, engaged in improving teamwork, camaraderie, and communication skills at the Jim Wall Challenge Course at NC State University’s Schenck Forest.

The SLC group, comprised of 22 students that serve as leaders of various student organizations as well as members of the Student Bar Association (SBA) Executive Council, took part in a wide assortment of activities that included a group juggle, blob tag, back-to-back, full-value contract, trust sequence, and time on the high ropes course. The action was led and supervised by NC State University Recreation Assistant Director for Outdoor Adventure Jason Rich.
“These activities are designed to help students step into a leadership role, and find out where they are as leaders and how they can improve,” said Rich. “It also gives them an opportunity to get energized for the beginning of the school year, take that energy back to campus, and focus it towards their student organizations.”
“The essential goal today was to build community among our fellow students, and get to know one another in a different way outside of an academic environment,” said third-year student and Campbell Law SBA Vice President and Phi Alpha Delta President Thom Robbins. “This is an environment where we can put down the walls of academia and build upon teamwork as a cohesive whole.”
With more than 20 student organizations at Campbell Law, there is no doubt that the past tradition of leadership and service will continue throughout the 2012-13 academic year.
“Our student leaders have very strong ideas for the next academic year that will unify the student body, and continue to cultivate an environment of community and success,” said Campbell Law Director of Student Life & Pro Bono Opportunities Mary Charles Branch. “This was a great opportunity to get all of our student leaders energized, engaged, and ready to lead in the upcoming school year.”
