Campbell Unversity students won their second award for outstanding work Feb. 29 at the Raleigh Ad Club’s award ceremony. Students in Dr. Ed Johnson’s mass communication class won an ADDY award for the public service announcement (PSA) campaign. This year the students won a silver ADDY for working with the Raleigh Ad Club on its PSA for the nonprofit organization, Me Fine, which helps families with children in UNC and Duke hospitals with serious or terminal diseases. Campbell Universitys mass communication department’s capstone course curriculum was designed to meet the three criteria of a service learning project: 1) teach the communication concepts, 2) apply those concepts to a particular project, and 3) do that in such a way that it is a service to the community. Johnson said the students will now compete in regional competition.Photo Copy- Campbell’s Department of Mass Communication paused recently during an awards ceremony for a picture.
