Sweet attends Cadet Troop Leader Training

Campbell University ROTC student, Justin Sweet, attended Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) at Ft. Campbell, Ky. this summer. The senior Business Administration major shadowed a platoon leader to gain knowledge of what a typical day in the military entails.

“I saw how the platoon leader interacted with the platoon sergeant and experienced what is expected out of a platoon leader,” said Sweet.

Sweet grew up in a military family. His dad was in the Marines so naturally Sweet wanted to serve his country. He researched all branches of the military and found the Army to be the best fit.

During his CTLT training he was involved in vigorous physical training, inventory of the gear, learned about improvised explosive devices and became certified as a combat lifesaver

Even though CTLT isn’t required for the ROTC students, Sweet advises his fellow soldiers to take advantage of the program.

“This was a great experience,” he said. “I learned many different aspects of active duty and its leadership.”
