Buies Creek, N.C.- Montgomery County business leader, Fred Taylor was recently elected vice chairman of the Campbell University Board of Trustees. This isn’t Taylor’s first term as a trustee officer. The Campbell University graduate is known for his strong support and loyalty to Campbell University for over four decades.
“He gives of his means and his time,” said Dr. Jack Britt, Vice President for Advancement for Campbell. “He has given to every capital campaign we’ve ever had.”
Taylor, who is president of Troy Lumber Company, comes by his loyalty honestly. His father, the late Dr. Fred L. Taylor, was a Campbell trustee and major benefactor and Taylor’s mother Alliene served on the Campbell University Presidential Board of Advisors. In addition, Campbell’s Taylor Hall of Religion is named in honor of the Taylor family and their contributions to the university. In 1999, Taylor was awarded the school’s Presidential Medallion for his commitment to the founding principals of Campbell University established by presidents Drs. J.A. Campbell, Leslie A. Campbell and Dr. Norman Adrian Wiggins. Taylor has also served as chairman of the Campbell Board of Trustees.
Active in his community, he has been a member of the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and a director of FST Bancorp. Taylor and his wife Myra are members of the First Baptist Church of Troy where he has been a deacon, Sunday school director and choir member.
