Buies Creek, N.C. – Teddy Byrd, of Coats, N.C., has been elected to the Campbell University Board of Trustees. Byrd is the owner of the Teddy J. Byrd Insurance Agency with offices in Coats, Erwin and Angier.
A Campbell University graduate, Byrd received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1985 and was a member of the University’s ROTC program. As a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, Byrd served in Iraq in 2003 and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Active in his community, Byrd has served as chairman of the Harnett County Board of Commissioners, president of the Coats Area Chamber of Commerce and founding president of the Coats Jaycees. He has also served previous terms on Campbell University’s Presidential Advisory Board. In 2004 the Coats Area Chamber of Commerce named Byrd Man of the Year.
Byrd and his wife Shelia are the parents of three children, Samantha, also a Campbell graduate; Alexandra, who attends East Carolina University; and Zachary, who has been accepted into the College of Engineering at North Carolina State University.
