Thompson to head Campbell Executive Committee

Buies Creek, N.C.-A member of the charter class of Campbell University’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law, Raleigh attorney Benjamin Thompson will chair the university’s Executive Committee. Thompson is a partner in the law firm of Wyrick, Robbins, Yates and Ponton.

The job is a good fit for Thompson, according to Campbell’s Vice President for Advancement Dr. Jack Britt. “Ben is a double graduate of Campbell University, earning his undergraduate degree in 1976 and his law degree in 1979, and he gives back as much as he received-not only with his financial support but with his leadership and his time,” Britt said.

Thompson admits that Campbell is near and dear to his heart.

“I’m very honored and gratified to have been given this opportunity to chair the Executive Committee,” he said. “I’m proud to be a part of the many wonderful things Campbell University is now and will accomplish in the future.”

Thompson graduated cum laude from Campbell in 1976 and received his Juris Doctor from Campbell’s Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 1979. Since that time, he has enjoyed a distinguished career in a practice that focuses on complex litigation, government contracting law, labor law and antitrust and trade regulation. Thompson also has extensive jury and non-jury trial experience in both state and federal courts throughout the country as well as on the various administrative boards of Contract Appeals, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Government Accountability Office and the National Labor Relations Board. He was listed among the best lawyers in America for commercial litigation and designated as one of North Carolina’s “Super Lawyers for Government/Cities/Municipalities and Business.” Thompson was also named to North Carolina Magazine’s” Business Elite: Litigation.” He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Panel of Arbitrators and the American Arbitrators Association, among other organizations. He has served a previous term as chairman of the Executive Committee for Campbell University and as a member of the university’s Presidential Board of Advisors.
