Thornton appointed to editorial board of political journal

Dr. David W. Thornton, director of Government Studies at Campbell University, has been appointed to the editorial board of “Politics and Policy” for 2008.Published quarterly by Blackwell Synergy on behalf of the Policy Studies Organization and several other state and regional political science associations, the peer-reviewed journal publishes articles in a broad range of political science topics. The journal also publishes special editions on contemporary political issues.Thornton takes the editorial board position as the representative of the North Carolina Political Science Association (NCPSA). He was a member of the NCPSA Executive Council from 2000-2006 and served as NCPSA president in 2005.Thornton earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration and a master’s degree in European history from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He went on to receive a Ph.D. in international relations from the University of South Carolina.Prior to coming to Campbell, Thornton was an instructor and lecturer in the Department of Government and International Studies at the University of South Carolina. He is a member of the European Union Studies Association and the International Studies Association. In addition, he has served as faculty advisor to Campbell’s Model United Nations student organization.
