Traylor receives coveted award at Campbell graduation ceremonies

Buies Creek–Rachael Elizabeth Traylor, of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., received the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award at Campbell University during graduation exercises held May 12.Named for 19th century New York lawyer and noted philanthropist, the award is given by the Sullivan Foundation to recognize students whose lives reflect the nobility of character of Sullivan’s life.A summa cum laude graduate with majors in English and Mass Communication, Traylor has received numerous academic honors, including membership in the honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Epsilon Pi Eta and Sigma Tau Delta. In addition, she was named to “Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.”In spite of a rigorous academic schedule, Traylor found time for many campus activities, including serving as the editor of Campbell’s literary magazine, “The Lyricist,” and maintaining membership in the Mabel Powell English Club and the Circle K Club, the college equivalent of the Kiwanis Club. Traylor also served as a Designated Helper on new student move-in days and as a member of the University Friends Organization. She was a member of Campbell’s Percussion Ensemble.Traylor is the daughter of Glenn and Janet Traylor of Fuquay-Varina.
