Trust students attend American Bankers Association Washington Summit

Trust and Wealth Management professors Tyler Britton and David Butler recently led a group of 35 senior students from Campbell University’s Trust and Wealth Management program to Washington, D.C., for an immersive educational experience combining government, finance and professional networking.

The two-day trip began with a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol, which included a visit to the Senate Chamber courtesy of Senator Thom Tillis’ office. Students also had the opportunity to view the nation’s founding documents at the National Archives, explore historic monuments, and conclude the day in front of the White House.

On the second day, the group attended the American Bankers Association Washington Summit, where they heard from influential figures in the financial industry and government. Featured speakers included Representative French Hill (R-AR), Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee; Travis Hill, Acting Chairman of the FDIC Board of Directors; and Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs. Several CEOs from major banking institutions also addressed the audience, providing students with valuable insights into the current landscape of the banking sector.

The experience concluded after the summit with tours of both the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Headquarters and the American Bankers Association Headquarters, offering students a deeper look into the organizations that help shape financial policy and professional standards nationwide.
