More than 110 upperclassman Trust and Wealth majors visited the Wells Fargo Trust Center in Winston-Salem this year for Campbell Day, an annual opportunity for students to learn about the functions of a trust center.
Wells Fargo’s relationship with Campbell goes back over 40 years, and Campbell Day at Wells Fargo is a tradition that extends for over a decade. This year’s group of students were hosted by Well’s national senior leadership team: Joe Ready, Head of Trust and Fiduciary Services nationwide, Jeanne Adams, Managing Director Fiduciary Management Services and John Elliott, Fiduciary Management Services Director of the NC Trust Center.
“The trip to Wells Fargo was a unique opportunity to learn about the functions of a trust center, network with senior employees, and strengthen connections with other students,” said student Aaron Schnoor. “As a senior in the program, I am thankful for the dedication Wells Fargo has shown in educating students about Trust and Wealth Management.”
It takes many hours of extensive planning by Wells Fargo to present this annual educational opportunity to the Campbell trust upperclassmen. This year, students divided into teams and rotated from activity to activity, learning about aspects of trust services from account opening and trust administration to IRA administration and estate planning. Wells Fargo employees acted out scenarios illustrating situations in trust and wealth management for the students to evaluate. The good-natured skits provided context for each activity.
“Very few college business students will ever experience this type of opportunity where a leading corporation dedicates an entire day to provide them with a glimpse of what their future could hold,” said Dean Kevin O’Mara. “I am unaware of a similar program at another school that involves such a commitment — nearly 150 employees —by the organization. We could not be more grateful to Wells Fargo. They truly provide a unique and remarkable experience for our Trust students.”
More than 60 Campbell trust alumni who work in the NC Trust Center alone are a testament to the relationship between Campbell and Wells Fargo. As home to the nation’s only undergraduate degree program in Trust and Wealth Management, Campbell is recognized as a tremendous source of talent by many premier financial institutions. The vast majority of the Campbell trust majors have the opportunity to participate in at least one paid summer internship and over 95% of trust majors are placed within one month of graduation.
“Trust is a growing, dynamic, challenging, financially rewarding profession where you have the opportunity to help others,” added professor Jimmy Witherspoon. “Wells Fargo’s commitment to our program and to our students speaks volumes as to the demand for our students. Our graduates hold a proven marketable skill-set that prepares them well to immediately meet the needs of the bank’s most affluent clients.”
