Tulis named recipient of NCAWA Sarah Parker Scholarship Award

RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell Law student Melissa Tulis has been named a recipient of the 2015-16 Sarah Parker Scholarship Award by the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys (NCAWA). A Raleigh native, Tulis is a rising third-year student.

“I am honored to be recognized by such an accomplished group of women,” said Tulis. “Chief Justice Parker is one of my role models, and I am humbled to be identified with her legacy.”

Tulis and six other scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 37th-annual NCAWA Fall Conference, Oct. 16-17 at the Blockade Runner in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.

“We are all proud of Melissa for receiving this award,” said Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. “Chief Justice Parker was and still is a perfect role model for young women in the legal profession, and I am certain that Melissa will no doubt honor her as a recipient of this award.”

The award is named in honor of former North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Sarah Parker, who served on the court from February 2006 until August 2014. Chief Justice Parker also previously served as an active member on the Campbell Law Board of Visitors.

The NCAWA has nine chapters throughout the state, each hosting local meetings and networking events. Campbell Law Director of Student Life & Pro Bono Opportunities Beth Froehling serves on the NCAWA Board of Directors.
