Tune in to Jazz at a free concert by Campbell Jazz Ensemble

Buies Creek, N.C.- Big Band to Latin, the Campbell University Jazz Ensemble will explore a variety of music genres in a free performance scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 4, at 8 p.m. The concert will be presented in the Scott Concert Hall of the Taylor Bott Rogers Fine Arts Center. The free concert is open to the public and will feature guest soloists Ramon Kenan, alumna Nancy Jo Ezzell (’08) and Ryan Chriscoe.

Senior Ryan Chriscoe, on Alto Sax, is a music major who will graduate this year. Chriscoe also holds a degree in psychology from Campbell. Trumpeter Ramon Kenan, has been sitting in with the University Jazz Ensemble since he was a student at Harnett Central High School and has been part of the Campbell jazz program for over nine years. Vocal soloist Nancy Jo Ezzell returns to Campbell where she was known for her performances at a number of events as an undergraduate. Ezzell holds a degree in Music Performance and a Master of Business Administration from Campbell.

According to Dr. Dwayne Wilson, Director of Bands, audiences can expect a well-rounded musical evening.

“Various jazz styles will be performed, including Big Band, Fusion, Latin, Smooth Jazz, Pop and several vocal standards,” Wilson said. “There is something for every jazz lover in this music program.”

The University Jazz Ensemble is comprised of six saxophones, four trombones, six trumpets, guitar, bass guitar, drums, percussion and piano/keyboard and includes a total of 23 musicians who are current students and two alumni.
