Twenty-Five Campbell legacies honored at luncheon

The Office of Alumni Engagement hosted 108 Campbell legacy students, parents, grandparents, family and friends at its second annual Legacy Luncheon on Aug. 19 — the University’s official “Move-In Day.”

This yearly tradition is a celebration of new students who are children or grandchildren of Campbell alumni.

During the program, students and their families heard welcome remarks from alumni board member Alyssa Stafford (’13), as well as a Campbell alumna Amy Bee (’90) and her daughter, legacy student Jessie Bee.  Bill Smith (’65), president of the Alumni Association Board, led the pinning of 25 new legacy students, officially welcoming each as members of the Campbell Alumni family.

“Today, you begin a new chapter in your life. As you follow in the Photo of Legacy Card and Pinfootsteps of one or more relatives who also walked our great campus, you will be connected through traditions, places and the commonality of the Campbell experience. These connections offer a link to our past, a path to your future and an invitation into the Campbell family of 50,000 alumni.”

President J. Bradley Creed concluded the program with remarks on what it means to be a part of Campbell University and the impact that each can have as students and alumni.

“We appreciate these families choosing to make Campbell a family tradition,” said Sarah Swain, assistant vice president of Alumni Engagement in Campbell’s Office of Alumni Engagement. “It’s exciting to see how the Campbell experience transcends generations and how Campbell is ingrained into their family story.  It means a lot to us that the parents and grandparents enjoyed their time at Campbell and want their students to have the same opportunity to receive a great education.”
