U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to hear arguments at Campbell Law

RALEIGH, N.C. – A three-judge panel from the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals will sit at Campbell Law School on Thursday, Sept. 17 for three oral arguments, including two criminal and one civil matter. Campbell Law students are welcome to sit in on the proceedings.

“We are fortunate to host the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals for a day next month,” said Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. “This is a tremendous learning opportunity for our students to see the law in action up close and personal, and I have no doubt that many will take advantage of this chance.”

The issues being heard include:

*Does government official’s termination of a deputy clerk for campaigning for office of clerk violate the First Amendment
*Whether the district court erred by admitting race based opinion testimony
*Whether the district court erred by concluding that the defendant was not in custody when questioned by FBI agents
