Buies Creek, N.C. – U.S. Solicitor General, The Honorable Neal Katyal, and Dr. Barbara E. Walker, director of the Osteopathic Residence program at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, are among the featured speakers at Campbell University’s five graduation ceremonies on May 13-14.
Dr. Walker, a distinguished physician and recognized leader in the American Osteopathic Association, will deliver the general commencement address on Saturday, May 14, at 9 a.m. in Campbell’s John W. Pope, Jr. Convocation Center. General Katyal will address the Campbell Law School graduating class on Friday, May 13, at 10 a.m. at Meymandi Concert Hall of the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Raleigh. A total of 1,063 degrees are expected to be conferred over the weekend graduation services.
“Campbell University is honored to welcome these distinguished speakers to our campus,” said President Jerry M. Wallace. “Their selection marks the recent announcement of our plans for a new School of Osteopathic Medicine, as well as the law school’s momentous move to Raleigh.”
Dr. Beth Steinbeck Williams, Clinical Director of Pharmacy at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, will speak at the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences service on Friday, May 13, at 3 p.m. at the Convocation Center. And Dr. Roy Smith, Jr., retired Executive Director-Treasurer of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, will deliver the Divinity School address at the May 13, 7 p.m. service at the Convocation Center. President Jerry Wallace will deliver the commencement address for the Extended Campus graduates at Fort Liberty/Pope Air Force Base, Camp Lejeune and Research Triangle Park on Saturday, May 14, at 3 p.m. in the Convocation Center.
The University will confer a grand total of 1,063 degrees, including 613 undergraduate degrees, 160 graduate degrees, and 290 professional degrees over the weekend services.
