Vann named Distinguished Young Business Alumnus of Campbell University

Buies Creek, N.C.—Attorney James R. Vann was named the 2010 Distinguished Young Alumnus of Campbell University’s Lundy-Fetterman School of Business at the school’s opening convocation service on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Vann, of Raleigh, N.C., received a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Trust Management from Campbell in 1986 and a law degree from Samford University in 1990. He opened his own law firm in 1993, adding a partner to become Vann & Sheridan, LLP in 1998. The firm specializes in creditors’ rights, construction litigation, contract law, business planning and business litigation matters, among other areas.

Upon receiving the award, Vann pressed business students to do something for someone else.

“It doesn’t matter what you do at Campbell University,” he said. “But step out and be a leader and do something for someone the way that Campbell has done something for you.”

Vann is the past chair of the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association and a member of the Business Law, Construction Law and Real Property sections of the Bar. He serves as a deacon at Hayes Barton Baptist Church in Raleigh and is active in the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the YMCA as chair of the “We Build People” campaign.

A faithful supporter of Campbell University, Vann serves as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Counsel for the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business. He and his wife Laura are the parents of two children.
