Buies Creek, N.C.-A collection of approximately 30 watercolors by Campbell University Graphic Design Professor Daniel Rodgers are currently on exhibit at the Harnett County Arts Council on Main Street in Lillington, N.C. The works will be on display until Jan. 29.
“Most of these paintings were completed in the last two years. Some are remnants from a study abroad experience in Italy, while others are a continuous engagement with the fascination of the play of light on form in a landscape or still life,” said Rodgers. “There is nothing political, social or of human interest in these paintings, just an appreciation of what God has put before all of us.”
Rodgers, who was recently juried into the North Carolina Watercolor Society annual exhibition for the second consecutive year, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bridgewater College in Virginia. He went on to obtain a Master of Fine Arts in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.
Prior to coming to Campbell in 2002, Rodgers was a visiting professor of graphic design and visual communications at Illinois Wesleyan University and Ames School of Art in Bloomington, Ill. He also served as president of BackCreek productions in Virginia, a graphic design company whose clients included the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Department of the Interior, Washington & Lee University and the Homestead Resort.
