WCCE inaugurates new sound of Christmas

Campbell University Radio Station WCCE 90.1 FM has changed its Christmas music format to reflect its new praise and worship programming.”For many years we’ve done Christmas music in a variety of music styles,” said Station Manager Travis Autry. “This year, we’ve joined with Salem Radio Network to bring the same praise and worship focus to our Christmas programming.”The new Christmas music format will focus on the traditional.”We’ll have more emphasis on Christian carols and songs of Christmas. The bulk of what we do will be Christian or sacred in nature,” Autry said.Traditional Christmas carols such as “O Holy Night,” “Away in a Manger” and “Silent Night” will be a programming staple.”It is music that better complements WCCE programming the rest of the year,” Autry said. “We think the praise and worship format is unique, one that appeals to many listeners, and we want to give our Christmas listeners a chance to experience more of what the new 90.1 has to offer.”WCCE changed formats from block programming with a variety of music styles to praise and worship music in July 2006. The new format is in keeping with Campbell’s mission of Christian higher education.”With the focus on praise and worship, Campbell strives to join with our local churches and other Christian organizations to provide listeners with a daily worship experience,” Autry said.
