What’s New 2017-18

The beginning of a new academic year brings more than new faces to Buies Creek. Read more about what’s new on campus this year.

Luby Wood Hall

The four-story residence hall features single and double occupancy dorm rooms with private sleeping quarters, three full-size kitchens with appliances, laundry facilities, a Provisions-on-Demand (POD) store, study space and lounging areas. At capacity, the building can accommodate 150 students.

Completed Sidewalks

With input from the Student Government Association, the University completed a sidewalk extension initiative over the summer. Brick sidewalks now wrap around the entire main campus ensuring the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.

Engineering Facilities

The Engineering Annex facility houses the School of Engineering’s sophomore, junior and senior class labs, as well as a state-of-the-art waterjet cutter (a tool capable of cutting a variety of materials using a high-pressure jet of water) and space for student collaboration.

For a second year, the incoming cohort of students raises the academic bar by having the highest cumulative weighted grade point average (GPA) in University history. The Class of 2021 has an average GPA of 3.943 with a revised SAT score average of 1092. The class is made up of 1,052 students hailing from 34 states.
