Veteran banker Billy Woodard, chairman and CEO of Fidelity Bancshares, Inc., will return to chair Campbell University’s Presidential Board of Advisors. Woodard is a resident of Biscoe, N.C.Woodard, who has served on the board for many years, is also a major supporter of Campbell’s John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center construction project.”I like what Campbell stands for and have enjoyed working with Campbell University from the beginning,” Woodard said. “I like what Campbell is doing for the economy of Harnett County and Eastern North Carolina, and I’m impressed with the kind of education the university provides.”Part of that education is an emphasis on Christian values and ethics that Woodard wholly endorses. “The Christian values and community service Campbell emphasizes prepares students for happy, successful lives,” he said.A banker for 45 years, Woodard worked for the Bank of Biscoe in Moore County when it merged with the Bank of Fuquay in 1970. When the bank’s name was changed to The Fidelity Bank, he became the new bank’s executive vice president and served as president from 1977-1997.Woodard earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1957 and completed a three-year program at the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University in 1965.He has served as treasurer of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is a charter member of the board of directors of the foundation.”We welcome Mr. Woodard’s leadership as returning chairman of the distinguished Board of Presidential Advisors,” said Campbell President Dr. Jerry M.
