Campbell Law School’s Ciara L. Rogers, director of the Stubbs Bankruptcy Clinic, has been selected as a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) 2023 Class of “40 Under 40.”

The ABI recently announced the honorees of its 2023 Class of “40 Under 40” award program, and Rogers, who is a partner at Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey PLLC, was among the ones chosen, according to the firm’s website.

ABI’s “40 Under 40” program recognizes emerging leaders in the insolvency profession who are an inspiration for the commitment, creativity and ingenuity that they demonstrate in both their careers and communities. More than 200 candidates, each with outstanding records of professional achievement and community leadership, were evaluated by members of a 20-person steering committee. Most of the applicants were partners, directors or managing directors at their firms.

The honorees will be recognized at a special ceremony on Dec. 1 during ABI’s 2023 Winter Leadership Conference at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Since 2018, Rogers has led the law school’s clinic, where Rogers supervises second– and third-year law students in providing pro bono bankruptcy representation to low-wealth individuals in the Eastern District of North Carolina. She has also taught the foundations of bankruptcy law course at Campbell Law and speaks at conferences on various bankruptcy related topics.

Rogers’ practice focuses on Debtors’ and Creditors’ Rights, Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, Representing Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustees, serving as a Subchapter-V Trustee, General Litigation, and Employment Law.

Before joining Waldrep Wall Babcock & Bailey, PLLC, Ciara was an attorney with the Law Offices of Oliver & Cheek. Prior to that, she was a law clerk to the Honorable J. Rich Leonard and the Honorable Randy D. Doub of the Eastern District of North Carolina, Bankruptcy Court. During law school, Ciara interned with the Bankruptcy Administrator’s Office in the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Rogers earned dual B.S degrees in History and Political Science from Averett University and her J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law. She is a member of the North Carolina and Virginia State Bars and the North Carolina Bar Association. Ciara is also certified as a specialist in business bankruptcy by the North Carolina State Bar.
